Tilley James. Will made 13 July 1783. Proved 29 October 1783.
In the Name of God Amen I James Tilley of the parish of Road in the County of Somerset Cordwainer being of a sound mind memory and understanding do hereby revoke and make void all and every former and other Will and Wills Testament and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made and do publish and declare this and none other to be my last Will and Testament as followeth that is to say
I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Mary Tilley all my household goods and stock in trade and what cash is in the house (except what is due to me on the book at the day of my death) of what sort nature or kind soever to bury me in a decent Christian like manner and to pay all my just debts in six months after my death to the only use and behoof of her the said Mary Tilley.
Also I give and bequeath unto my loving daughter Elizabeth Tilley the sum of fifty pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to her the said Elizabeth Tilley on the day she shall be twenty five years of age by my Executors or by whom they shall appoint. And my will is further that when my said daughter shall be twenty years of age that she shall have the interest of the said fifty pounds towards her maintenance to buy her clothes or to what she please with the interest only until she is the above mentioned age but if it should please God that she should happen to die before she shall be twenty five years of age then I give and bequeath the said fifty pounds unto my son Simon and to his heirs for ever.
Also I give and devise unto my son Simon Tilley and to his heirs and assigns for ever all that my dwelling house outhouse shop garden and all and singular other the premises with its appurtenances thereto belonging situate in Road in the parish of North Bradley in the County of Wilts now in the occupation of Henry Salisbury and for want or in default of heirs or if he should die before he be twenty one years of age then I give and devise the above mentioned dwelling house with the premises thereto belonging with its appurtenances unto my above mentioned daughter Elizth Tilley and to the heirs of her body lawfully to be begotten for ever.
Also I give and bequeath unto my said son Simon Tilley the mortgage that I have on my brother Edward’s house my silver watch and my silver buckles and the remainder of the money that is left of what was owed to me on my book at my death after my said daughter’s fifty pounds are deducted but if it should so please God that my said son should happen to die before he shall be twenty one years of age then I give the above mentioned mortgage watch buckles and cash to my said daughter and to her heirs for ever.
Also my will is that what cash is owed to me at the time of my death be called in in six months after my death by my Executors. In trust that they may put it out to interest on proper security the interest of which with the interest on my brother’s mortgage and the rent of my dwelling house after the taxes and necessary repairs are deducted be paid to my above named wife for the necessary maintenance and support of my above named son Simon and daughter Elizabeth so long as they shall live with my said wife till it shall be thought prudent by my Executors to put them out to learn some proper trade or calling but if my said wife should happen to marry again and it is disagreeable for her to keep her said children on the course abovementioned or if she happen to die then in either of the above cases then my will is that my Executors will see that proper care be taken of them and what extraordinary money shall be occasioned by it to be deducted out of what money shall belong to my said son Simon.
All the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels real and personal estate whatsoever or wheresoever I give and bequeath unto my above named son Simon Tilley whom I hereby make ordain nominate constitute and appoint full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament if he shall be of the age of twenty one years.
If not I constitute and appoint my loving friend Mr John Pool of the parish of North Bradley in the County of Wilts Yeoman and my loving brother in law Benjamin Walker of the parish of Road aforesaid Clothworker Executors. In trust for my said son till he shall be twenty one years of age acting and doing therein as full and ample a manner as I myself was I alive or my said son could have done was he of age.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the thirteenth day of July in the twenty third year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three.

Tyly Richard. Will made March 1622. Proved 27 September 1623.
He was a yeoman and lived in Tellisford and in part of his Will he left money to the Church of Rode and to the poor of that parish. Another part of his Will said…
Item. I give unto my daughter Alice Tree twenty shillings to be paid unto her within one year after my decease for as her said husband John Tree shall bring in his wife upon reasonable summons or warning given unto him by my son Richard Tilly for to surrender and yield up all such right and interest as he hath of may of and in one tenement late in the tenure or occupation of Thomas Addams of Road aforesaid unto my son Richard Tilly like as it is expressed in a bond made unto me and unto my wife by my son in law John Tree already.
And if he will not surrender up all her right and interest therein then my will is that my Executrix shall not pay her that twenty shillings after my decease.
Tilly otherwise Tileey Simon. Will made 7 February 1766. Proved 28January 1769.
In the Name of God Amen I Simon Tileey of Road in the parish of North Bradley in the County of Wilts Cordwainer being of sound mind memory and understanding do make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament as follows.
First I give unto my son Thomas Tileey now a soldier one shilling. Item. I give and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth Tileey all that my dwelling house backside and garden to the same adjoining wherein I now dwell situate lying and being in North Bradley aforesaid together with a small tenement in the parish of Norton St Phillips in the County of Somerset now in the occupation of Benjamin Bull for and during her natural life together with all my house-hold goods of what nature or kind soever the same shall consist of.
And after the death of my said wife Elizabeth Tileey I give and bequeath the tenement at Norton to my son John Tileey. To hold to him my said son John his heirs and assigns for ever paying to his brother James Tileey eight pounds. And I do hereby charge the same tenement with the payment of the same.
I also give and bequeath after the death of my said wife to my son James Tileey all that messuage or tenement backside and garden to the same adjoining lying in the parish of North Bradley aforesaid. To hold to him my said son James his heirs and assigns for ever. And I do hereby charge the said dwelling house so given with the payment of three pounds to his brother Edward Tileey within one month after the death of my said wife.
And all the rest residue and remainder of my goods and chattels whatsoever not before disposed of I give devise and bequeath the same to my said wife Elizabeth Tileey and I do hereby appoint her sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament revoking and making void all former Will or Wills by me heretofore made declaring this only to be my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty six.
