Stafford John. Will made 17 November 1649. Proved 3 October 1650.
In the Name of God Amen I John Stafford of Road in the County of Somerset being sick in body but whole in mind doth make my Will and Testament as followeth.
First I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of God trusting to be saved in the merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer and I commit my body to the earth from whence it came to be buried in the parish churchyard where God shall appoint the place and my worldly goods I do bequeath as followeth.
Item. I give unto John Stafford my son forty shillings which is due unto me from him at Christ-tide. All my goods and chattels withindoors and without movable and immovable I give unto Alice my wife and Rachel and Elizabeth my daughters making them my Executrixes. If Rachel happen to die unmarried her part to remain to Elizabeth and if Elizabeth happen to die unmarried her part to remain to Rachel.
I give unto John Whatly Richard Read and Mathias Adlam witnesses of this my Will one shilling apiece and thereunto have set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of November in the year of our Lord Anno Din 1649.
