Rode is served by two bus services, the D2 (operated by First Bus) and the X34 (operated by Faresaver).
D2 Service (Bath to Frome via Rode)
Changes to the D2 and D2x services from 6th April 2025: The route of service D2x has been amended to operate into Bath through Norton St Philip, Hinton Charthouse and Midford, instead of via Radstock and Peasedown St. John. This provides an increased frequency between Norton St. Philip, Hinton Charterhouse and Bath. The D2x now operates from Frome Sainsbury’s via The Butts, Frome Market Place, Fromefield, and then then A361, A36 & B3110. It will not serve Critchill, Brunel Way, Beckington or Rode (So – for Rode residents – the nearest D2x bus stop is now the Red Lion at Woolverton).
The D2 no longer serves Frome Railway Station, with all journeys running to and from Frome Sainsbury’s via Critchill, and all journeys will now serve Rode. Both services have a revised timetable. On Frome Market Days, buses will no longer serve Cork Street Car Park on the diversion, due to issues with buses getting stuck during 2024. Buses will now operate directly from Christchurch Street East to/from Christchurch Street West on the diversion – please use the Memorial Theatre Complex stops during these times.
Full timetable details can be downloaded here (together with a handy route map):
Certain services are operating with government support, so there is always a risk that – if and when the support is withdrawn – the services will be discontinued if they can’t generate a return for First Bus. As ever, it’s a case of “use it or lose it”. All single journeys are priced at £3 until 31st December 2025.
X34 Service (Chippenham to Frome via Rode)
The X34 serves Frome, Trowbridge, Melksham and Chippenham. The current timetable can be downloaded here:
