1st Rode Scout Group

1st Rode Scout Group has been a vibrant, active troupe for over 40 years and very much part of our village life.  We celebrate diversity and inclusivity for all ages.

We are a friendly group of DBS checked, male and female Scout Leaders who encourage our Scouts to value integrity, respect, care and cooperation in everything we do.  We are proud to be part of Rode and integrate with many village events as well as creating various activities for the village to join in with as well.

Each Scout group will pre-plan their weekly session to offer exciting opportunities for the group to safely explore, learn, challenge themselves and most importantly to have FUN!

A Scout will meet and team-up with young men and women from all walks of life as we introduce them to a wide variety of outdoor and indoor activities.

Our 1st Rode Scout Group meets once a week during school term time, as follows:

Beavers aged 6 to 8 years – meet Wednesdays 4:45 – 5:45pm

Cubs aged 8 to 10.5 years – meet Thursdays 6 – 7:30pm

Scouts aged 10.5 to 14 years – meet Wednesdays 7 – 8:30pm

Scouts Edor Explorer Unit 14 to 18 years – meet every other Tuesday 8 – 9:30pm

In the words of Scout Leader Howard Russell:

“Why we do what we do, as leaders?

Whilst a lot of leaders have been a member when they were young and remember the fun and amazing time they had, others join us as they can see the remarkable benefits we can give to young people.

We are not professional teachers or parents of these youngsters (unless our own are there) so we can bring a different approach to giving young people an incredible time whilst they learn new life skills and gain confidence in their achievements.  This tends to set them up to be good citizens through a constructed programme.”

Contact Group Scout Leader Howard Russell for more information or if you would like to have a chat about your child and Scouts.

We look forward to welcoming you to 1st Rode Scout Group:
